Smart Shades builds fixed trellis roofs and awnings in Singapore on rust-free powder-coated aluminium frames. Choose aluminium composite panels for full shade, polycarbonate for daylight at a lower cost, tempered laminated glass for a clear sky view, or fluted aluminium for a modern ribbed finish. Every roof includes designed falls, gutters and downpipes, and can be finished underneath with a timber-like aluminium ceiling or an acoustic ceiling.

Aluminium composite, polycarbonate, tempered laminated glass or fluted aluminium.
Powder-coated aluminium trellis that will not corrode in Singapore humidity.
Designed falls, gutters and downpipes to keep water away from walls and neighbours.
Timber-like aluminium or acoustic ceilings that conceal wiring and support downlights and fans.
A fixed trellis roof is the most straightforward way to turn an exposed outdoor area into usable, all-weather space. Smart Shades fabricates aluminium trellis frames and fits them with the roofing panel that best suits your needs: aluminium composite panels for full shade and heat reduction, polycarbonate for diffused daylight at a lower cost, tempered laminated glass for a premium see-through finish, or fluted aluminium for a clean, modern profile.
Every fixed roof is designed with proper falls, gutters and downpipes so rainwater is carried away from your home, not onto your walls or your neighbour's. Frames are powder-coated aluminium, which does not rust and suits Singapore's humid climate far better than mild steel.
Fixed roofs are ideal where you want shelter all the time: car porches, side passages, back-of-house areas, rooftop laundry or utility spaces and outdoor kitchens. They can also be combined with SmartZip blinds on the sides to fully enclose the space.
A ceiling completes the space. Our timber-like aluminium ceiling gives the warm look of wood without rot, warping or termites, and is fabricated in-house to custom lengths and mixed wood-grain colours. For interiors where comfort matters - open-plan homes, home theatres, offices and F&B outlets - our acoustic ceilings reduce echo so conversations and music sound clearer.
It depends on what you value most. Aluminium composite panels give the coolest, fully shaded space and are popular for car porches. Polycarbonate lets in diffused daylight at a lower cost. Tempered laminated glass gives the clearest view and the most premium finish. Fluted aluminium offers a modern ribbed look with full shade. We bring samples during the site survey so you can compare.
Clear polycarbonate transmits more heat and light than opaque materials. Tinted or heat-reflective polycarbonate reduces this significantly, and an aluminium composite or fluted aluminium roof gives the coolest result. We will recommend the right option based on orientation and how you use the space.
Many landed home trellis structures need URA and BCA submissions, and condo installations usually need MCST approval. Requirements depend on the size and location of the structure. We advise on what is typically required during the site survey.
Yes. Aluminium is lightweight and weather-resistant, which makes it far more suitable for outdoor ceilings in Singapore than natural timber, plaster or gypsum board. It is commonly installed at car porches, roof terraces, balconies and attics, and under trellis roofs.

An acoustic ceiling absorbs sound energy to reduce echo and reverberation in a room. It makes speech clearer and the space feel calmer, which is useful in open-plan homes, home theatres, offices, classrooms and restaurants.
